Where are the Remuneration Enquiry results?

Dear Members,

The results of the Remuneration Enquiry were initially scheduled for March 2017 (followed by one month of secret talks) but have yet to see the light of day.  If by chance you see a Union delegate about, please ask them when the results of the Remuneration Enquiry will be made available to all interested parties.

Each week the Remuneration Enquiry is delayed the non-payment of expected pay increases saves the QAS greater than $500,000.00 in their weekly wages bill.   With this as a perspective the cost of the funding by UV and the Queensland Government for the Remuneration Enquiry fades into insignificance. This amount is how much QAS employees are losing in wages (as a minimum) compared to other states on a weekly basis.

It has been 9 years since the pay inadequacies within QAS were bought to the attention of interested parties via 2 private  submissions to the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission (Exec Summary  1,  Exec Summary 2Full Version 1, and Full Version 2).  APA Qld hopes that United Voice intends to utilise the results of the remuneration enquiry and bring Queensland Ambulance Service staff  pay rates into line with the rest of the states as a matter of priority.

All parties would hope that the delays are not part of political manoeuvring by United Voice and the Government considering it is an election year.

Politicising Paramedics and paramedic support staffs pay rates is simply not acceptable.

United Voice and the Mercer Institute have committed almost a year to the “Remuneration Enquiry”.  With this time frame to measure the real value of QAS employees APA Qld is hopeful that all QAS staff should be looking forward to significant pay rises soon. Especially since UV and the government have both stated via UV that this is their intent.

APA Qld  is committed to ensure QAS employees are paid fairly.  One of our members spent a day reviewing readily available information available from interstate Industrial Relations Ambulance Service websites.  These results, using very conservative methodology, are below.

Stay positive!  An honest appraisal of pay rates via the Remuneration  Enquiry should be coming soon if the promises of UV are true, and these pay rates should reflect higher rates than the conservative projections following on this page.
